About Sensei

Sensei Ernesto was born in Venezuela in 1967. In 1993 Sensei obtained his degree in Civil Law and was a very successful Trial Attorney in Venezuela.  In addition, for him to be better prepared for his career and passion, he earned a Masters Degree in CHILD PSYCOLOGY  Human Resources Management and a minor in Neuro-Linguistics Program (NLP).

He started his career in Karate-Do Shotokan in 1983. Since then, his passion for instructing and sharing his knowledge captivated Sensei, leading him to the teaching aspect of Karate for almost 3 decades...

In 1997, under Master Hirokazu Kanazawa, Sensei Ernesto obtained his International Karate Instructor Certification in Okinawa, Japan.

As a karate instructor, Sensei Ernesto has an extremely successful career. His Karate Academy has been recognized by the National Karate-do Federation (N.K.F.) as one of the top 5 Karate School in the entire USA. Also he has been inducted as one of the most successful Karate instructors in the Nation by training and developing multiple Pan-American, National Karate Champions and USA team members every year in the NKFAAUSKIF Traditional circuits.

Also, Sensei Ernesto is a Certified Class “B” National Karate-do Referee and he's working towards his International Certification in order to give his students a good understanding of the National and International competition's rules.

Sensei is the father of 3 children. His older son, Alex (20), a USF student, is also a SKIF-USA team member and a co-instructor in the Academy. His 2 girls are karate-kas and besides being honor roll students and displaying excellent citizenship, in and out of school, they have been successful athletes for many years.

As a father and community leader, one of his biggest concerns is the poor professionalism shown by sport instructors and/or teachers, in general, and the lack of understanding regarding the big impact that those people have in the lives of children.

Every time someone comes to his academy inquiring for information about his program this is what he always says:

"Before you choose a karate academy, make sure that the instructor is academically (College degree), instructionally (multiple certifications) and really  qualified (years of training and teaching) to guide your child’s first step in any sport or activity!!

Unfortunately, there are too many “fake” instructors; too many 32 months (or less) “Black Belt Factories” that are only looking for the way to have the most money out of your pocket without caring how well prepared they are to lead your children.  It’s you responsibility, as a parent, to research. Please understand that lack of research can harm your children forever...

Mom, Dad, it is scary…!   Believe me…! There’s no control, whatsoever,  of who is opening a Karate Academy nowadays… In every shopping plaza there is a "Karate Academy" and it seems to be one of the easiest ways to make a living and a business…

Do me a favor:  Type the word "karate" in an internet auction site; you will be surprised at how many "official" Black Belt Certificates you can find for a fee, without earning it through practice...... even your dog can be a 6th Degree Black Belt for a small charge!!!!

                                                         Think about it!!
